Senior Travel: Not Exactly Roughing It!

Beaver Creek Ski Resort’s slogan is apt: “not exactly roughing it.” It lives up to all expectations. There are heated walkways. Escalators take you up even one flight of stairs. Oh, and then the cookies, oh yes, the cookies. Beaver Creek Colorado is truly a luxury ski resort. It is nestled in the Colorado Mountains 120 miles west of Denver and 20 miles east of Eagle in the city of Avon.

If you travel by automobile through Denver, Highway I-70 goes straight from Denver into the mountains. Take Exit 167 to Avon, and go left on the roundabout. You will go under I-70 and continue through 4 more roundabouts. When you see the entrance to Beaver Creek you have arrived.

Air travel from Eagle airport is even easier. If you travel by car after landing at Eagle airport, take the main road, Cooley Road to Highway 6. From there follow the signs to Interstate 70. Get off at exit 167 and follow the directions above.

Colorado Mountain Express is one step even easier. They provide door-to-door service or private SUV service from Denver or Eagle airport to the resort. They make it so convenient.

Beaver Creek Resort

The resort is, of course, the best part of the ski experience. The best is usually good enough. This is no exception. If you drive and park in the parking garage, you will not get cold. It is heated for your convenience.

Children and teen programs are convenient so you can enjoy your day. All in all, it is a great place to spend a ski vacation for the whole family.

The ice skating rink is located in Beaver Creek village. The village itself feels very intimate. There are fire pits and comfortable chairs all around, Enough for everyone. The upscale boutiques and galleries will tempt you to do more than just window shop. The restaurants will delight every taste.

In the evenings you can relax with the confidence that your teen is having as great a time as you are. There are adventures just for them. Sign them up for teen tubing at Vail’s Adventure Ridge or perhaps Twilight Snowshoe and Pizza party. Transportation is included so you can stay in and enjoy the resort.

If you choose not to stay in the resort itself, there are many moderately priced options to choose from. The staff is attentive, no matter where you are staying. If you are flexible on the dates you can arrive, there are more options to choose from. Check out their site at BeaverCreek.com.

Lift tickets can be purchased online on their site. For seniors, the price is $237.00 per day. The more lift ticket days you purchase, the less expensive per day for the tickets. You can get a small discount if you purchase them online. Just be aware that the tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable. So if you decide not to ski on the days you purchased, you are out of luck.

Days End
